Trump was invited to a town hall at Dream City Church, an Assemblies of God megachurch in northern Phoenix.

Of course, it violates IRS regulations, but Trump is exempt from following any norms that apply to everyone else.

But that’s not the worst of it.

During his rambling word salad speech when spewing his hate message, Trump encouraged these “religious” folks to start using a curse word. And they did, chanting it like the God fearing people they claim to be. In a church in front of their children.

If it upsets you to be called a cult, maybe it would help if you stopped acting like one.

Not a fan of the DailyKos, but their article includes a video of the righteous Christians cursing in a church in front of their children.

The only thing missing were the armbands.

Meh. FYI, the curse word is bu--sh--. That may technically be a curse word in certain contexts, but, like as-, and a few others, it doesn't have to be taken as a curse word, unlike the more vulgar fu--, etc. Here, BS simply mean "malarky".

Apparently the word was 'bullshit'.

But the Trumpers can do much worse than that.

I pulled up to a hiking trailhead a while back and there was a group of 6 jeeps and UTVs flying various flags: "Fuck Joe Biden and Fuck You for Voting for Him", a Confederate flag, the Don't Tread on Me flag. Mind you this was a group of families with young children. Parents setting a fine example for their children.

Yes, but remember this is a church full of 'godly' christians and there is their guru, Trump, up their leading the chant. Not a nice picture.

I was raised by a mother who would literally wash out your mouth with soap if she heard you swearing. Silly now I suppose and in a time when mother****** is in common usage I guess things are just different now.

This made me wonder what The Bible has to say about cursing, and it disapproves. From https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Bad-Languag...

Ephesians 4:29
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

James 1:26
If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Luke 6:45
The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

James 5:12
But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.

Matthew 12:36-37
But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Ephesians 5:4
and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Colossians 4:6
Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

Quibble. Trump didn't violate IRS regulations. The church did. They should have their tax-exempt status revoked immediately. (Actually, all churches should have that revoked, but that's a subject for a different thread.)

I disagree with the notion of "dirty" language. Language is for communication. It uses words, and those words have meaning. A lot of people misuse words, and many times give away their lack of cognitive function when the only adjective they know is f*****g. But it isn't inherently dirty. Properly used, profanity can emphasize a point. When I use profanity, 1poorlady knows I'm p-o'd. Because I seldom use it (other than "crap", which used to be a "naughty" word when I was a kid).

I also refer you to Matt 15:11:
"It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.” (NASB)

The further context of the chapter refers to a man dishonoring himself, on the premise that this is what is in his heart. (It also nullifies any food restrictions imposed by different sects, since it isn't "what enters into the mouth" that is a problem. But I digress.)

. They (churches) should have their tax-exempt status revoked immediately.

It's a no win situation for the IRS. Churches are violating the prohibition of political endorsement, etc., regularly. And youn know they fell entitled to do that because of course this is a Christian country, and of course Christian morals are the best and the guiding force of civilization. And why whites are best too.

SNIPPY: Churches are breaking the law and endorsing in elections, experts say. The IRS looks the other way.

For nearly 70 years, federal law has barred churches from directly involving themselves in political campaigns, but the IRS has largely abdicated its enforcement responsibilities as churches have become more brazen about publicly backing candidates.

Six days before a local runoff election last year in Frisco, a prosperous and growing suburb of Dallas, Brandon Burden paced the stage of KingdomLife Church. The pastor told congregants that demonic spirits were operating through members of the City Council.

Grasping his Bible with both hands, Burden said God was working through his North Texas congregation to take the country back to its Christian roots. He lamented that he lacked jurisdiction over the state Capitol, where he had gone during the 2021 Texas legislative session to lobby for conservative priorities like expanded gun rights and a ban on abortion.

“But you know what I got jurisdiction over this morning is an election coming up on Saturday,” Burden told parishioners. “I got a candidate that God wants to win. I got a mayor that God wants to unseat. God wants to undo. God wants to shift the balance of power in our city. And I have jurisdiction over that this morning.”UNSNIPPY

Not a quibble. Thank you for pointing that out.
