If someone appears to be repeatedly personal, lean towards patience as they might not mean offense. If you are sure, however, then do not deepen the problem by being negative; instead, simply place them on ignore by clicking the unhappy yellow face to the right of their name.

LM is correct that it's not a priority for the Dems, at least not since Obama (as the other poster mentioned). But for all the fire and bluster from the Reps, you'd think they would do something when they had power.

I think it's just a really hard issue, one that involves a lot of conflicts between different values that divide the constituencies in both parties. Whether it's a priority or not, neither Dems nor Reps have a solution or preferred policy outcome that enough of their party can rally behind. Large swatches of both parties will prefer the status quo to any specific proposed change - which makes it really, really hard to get anything that can find 60 votes. Which makes it really unlikely that either party will invest a lot of political capital on legislation
