The two conservative old school leaders of the world have made exactly the same mistake.
Both Trump and Putin attacked enemies with an expectation of victory over just a couple of days, and both failed. Why is this, and more importantly what is the flaw in their thought process?
I propose the following, but am open to criticism and other ideas.
(1) Hierarchical power structures are no longer the best solution. Power is diffuse and decentralized. Empowerment actually means something.
(2) Superman is ineffective in the modern world. A previous leader once told me he would take two strong performers over one super duper. I think modern techniques allow teams to outperform strong single individuals.

There is clearly a flaw in modern conservative thinking, and it would serve us to understand what it is.
