Branching off of the albaby1/Dope1 discussion on the 2A and accidental shootings, a few days ago the Wake County Sheriff's Office announced on Twitter that K9 Santos was shot and killed in the line of duty after the German Shepard and his handler were called to assist Knightdale Police with a search for a suspect. "While tracking, K9 Santos was fatally wounded."

What they failed to disclose was pointed out in a "for context" message accompanying the tweet:

"While it is true K9 Santos was killed in the line of duty while tracking a suspect, he was shot by a member of the Knightdale Police Department and not the suspect."

Coulda' been worse: K9 Santos's handler could have been shot and killed too.
