He wants to excite an audience; a raucous WWE event,

He needs the self-affirmation of cheering crowds and friendly questioners. They are his security blanket, just like many 2 year olds.

Without the crowds and friends, he puts on a terrible show. Just like at the last debate. It's arguably the second-worst presidential debate performance in history. Unfortunately, Biden's performance at that same debate was the worst. So he looks like the winner by comparison.

Kind of like deciding a mid-70s AMC Pacer was the best car ever made by comparing it only to a 1980's Yugo.
