When congress, both side of the aisle, will find justification to spend 110% of what ever revenue is collected, then raising taxes is an endless treadmill that math will inevitably force to crash and burn.
That can happen, yes. The last time we had a surplus the "leaders" of both sides were figuring out ways to spend it, instead of reducing the debt. We obviously need some reforms, in addition to tax increases. My comment wasn't meant to be an in-depth analysis of the federal budget. Just that we aren't going to get anywhere if one side refuses to raise taxes when most of our spending is on non-negotiable programs like Medicare. Trimming the CPB or other nonsense is like peeing in the ocean.
