The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

aol.com - Aoc matt gaetz introduce bipartisan

"A rare show of bipartisanship was on display in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday as Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Republican Matt Gaetz introduced a bill that would ban Congressional lawmakers from trading stocks."

OK I'M MIXED, gotta compartmentalize. On one hand - in weak moments - I want people working together, to put the tribalism I used to warn about aside. BUT on the other hand - I love when your Ruling Class lies to you, rips you off, and is fully compromised by forced both financial and foreign. (On TMF I was personally attacked when I warned of too much foreign influence - I've learned to cheer it - and a few times - even facilitated it....). But I digress.

Gaetz: I've no regard for.

AOC: If she doesn't sell out - I like that thus far she isn't a Mule for Israel. Also think she can be useful vis a vis unionizing Club 401k's greedy corporations but I can't say for sure. So while I have disdain for much of her philosophy and generational mindset - I can say I respect her having a point of view, and hey - her initial election win was impressive. I call em like I see em.

So they want to forbid members of Congress from trading stocks.

There's SO many ways to get around such a law - so methinks they'll stay compromised so that gives me hope.'

But good on AOC and Gaetz - they both rose above the "he has cooties" mindset in your nation's politics today.
