The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

WiltonKnight: Imagine Bush or Trump skipping this.

You're joking, right? Or clueless?

1. President Trump will skip most of the second day of a summit meeting with allies this weekend, the White House said late Thursday, as he engaged in a contentious war of words over trade on the eve of a gathering that will underscore his isolation from the leaders of the world's largest economies.

2. Donald Trump skipped the G20 summit's 'Pandemic Preparedness' event to visit one of his golf clubs on the same day that a record 195,500 new Covid-19 infections were reported in a 24-hour period in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins.

3. Dozens of world leaders are to gather at the United Nations on Monday for a full agenda of talks on how to fight global warming, and President Bush is skipping all the day's events but the dinner. Well, he skipped everything but the dinner, so, umm...

4. The once-a-decade White House Conference on Aging is meeting in Washington this week, with the future of Medicare high on its agenda. Medicare was on President Bush's agenda Tuesday, too. But he skipped the White House conference -- making him the first president not to speak to delegates in the event's half-century history.

Hey, d'ya hear: Inflation was 3% in June (y/y). That's an incredible drop from a year ago when inflation was 9.1% (y/y) in June 2022.

Wages are rising faster than inflation.

Bidenomics, baby.
