You're forgetting that the Felon is not very intelligent, is a toxic narcissist, and appears to be suffering from dementia (which further reduces his intelligence). He ordered the attack on Iran against all advice. I see no reason he wouldn't order a nuclear strike on them, especially since they aren't doing what he wants them to do. I'm not a mind-reader, but I can totally see him thinking that they will knuckle-under if he pops one (or more) nukes, and cede the Strait to us.

Not an expert, but I strongly suspect that won't work. He'd have to decapitate Iranian leadership (pretty much all levels), and that means -at minimum- wiping out Tehran. That's about 16M people in the greater metro area. Maybe THAT would work? But that's a lot of people. The global fallout (no pun intended) from an unprovoked nuke strike would be a catastrophe for us. We would have few friends left.
