If Biden has to go, have him resign Presidency and let Kamala run as incumbent.
Interesting, because a couple days ago he was urging Democrats not to dump Biden.
And the power of incumbency isn’t just that someone got it two days ago. It’s that over the course of an administration the public has a chance to watch you in action, to put programs in place, to form political bonds, to develop a long list of donors and supporters.
Making Kamala “incumbent” at this point offers no such advantages, she’d still be “the new kid”, untested, (relatively) unknown. Yes, she’d be titular “head of the party”, and it would avoid the messy parts of a disorganized convention - and that’s something - but it’s hardly what that “13 queastion quiz” (or whatever it was) contemplates by being “incumbent.”

I agree that if Biden does give up his nominee status - still a very big IF - he must also resign or else he will be effectively neutered on the domestic and world stage until Jan 20, 2025, because he will be seen as enfeebled and weak. And if he does resign, by default, Kamala becomes president and the new nominee. She certainly won't want to take the reigns for 6 months only to support a different front runner during that time and then just quite.
