As a wise person said, “Ayn Rand is generally first encountered in high school, and should always be left there.”
For most harmful book of the 20th century, it’s a close race between “Atlas Shrugged”, “The Turner Diaries”, and “Mein Kampf”. They’re all badly written, but the sociopathic philosophies which seeped from them into the general populace have caused great harm. I wonder if Gutenberg would shudder.
They have all been harmful in greater or lesser degrees, but it’s undeniable that they have influence groups of people to embrace an antisocial, antihuman view of the world.
