Trump picks Herschel Walker to be ambassador to the Bahamas.

President-elect Donald J. Trump selected Herschel Walker on Tuesday to be the U.S. ambassador to the small Caribbean nation of the Bahamas, turning to a longtime ally and former football star who generated national headlines in his failed run for a Senate seat in Georgia in 2022.

In a statement on social media, Mr. Trump highlighted Mr. Walker’s athletic record as qualifying him for the position. NYT

That is quite a fall from political significance, senate candidate to ambassador to a nearby peaceful island paradise.

Nothing really against Hershel, a decent fellow, but he seemed weak and inarticulate on policy during his senate campaign. This new gig is a well-suited assignment for him.
