In Atlanta, Waymo has partnered with Uber to offer rides though the Uber app. Some passengers at least prefer Waymo over human drivers. The article isn't very good, and it is possible some of this is due to the novelty of autonomous driving, but some of it might be due simply to the fact that not everyone wants to talk to the driver.

Uber already offers an option on the app indicating to the driver if you want to talk or not. So, it seems there is a cohort of people already who just don't want to talk to the driver.
