(AP - WASHINGTON) In an announcement that shocked no one and delighted anyone that ever met him, California US House Member Kevin McCarthy announced that after much prayer and consultation with his family, he has decided to resign from the House of Representatives by year's end to allow him to spend more time with those closest to him. When asked to identify exactly who that was, McCarthy responded, "corporate lobbyists, evangelical fascists and insurrectionists, who did you think I meant?"
When asked what he prayed for, McCarthy replied "To be as far away from ethics committees and Marjorie Taylor Greene as possible."
