With mom dying, I'm the only heir. One thing I inherited is an oil by Vicki Malouf. Apparently she was very popular in the L.A. art scene in the late '60s. I'm hoping this diverse crowd can come up with recommendations on how to sell it. It's nice enough, but doesn't really appeal to me. Certainly it deserves better treatment than the trash pickup! I'd like to find it a good home.

Vicki Malouf? Never heard of her. I called a major Laguna Beach gallery owner I've known for a long time. He specializes in California painters from the early 20th to now. He never heard the name either.

Google suggests she was quite the high society butterfly, flitting seasonally between Palm Springs and Newport Beach.

You might try phoning a few art galleries where she flitted to see if there's name recognition or valuation. If any gallery can give you any kind of appraisal, donating it to the Salvation Army for a big tax deduction is always an option.

That said, scads of original oil paintings sell for a song everyday on Estate 360 and comparable estate auction websites.

Good Luck.

Yeah, apparently she was high society. The painting isn't bad, either. Just not our taste.

If it isn't valuable, we'll probably just donate it. Not worth the effort to sell it.
