I do have to tip my cap to the Chinese, because this is a nice touch:

MineOne Partners Limited, which is owned by Chinese nationals, partnered with other companies to buy real estate for cryptocurrency mining in June 2022, the White House said.

"mining cryptocurrency" means essentially putting a server farm (handy if what you're really doing is processing data) right next to the bases.
