https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/new-york-p...(Bloomberg) -- Hundreds of police officers from New York City and other jurisdictions will help guard the US Capitol as large protests are expected when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses a joint meeting of Congress on Wednesday.
The US Capitol Police “anticipates a lot of demonstrators to show up,” the department said in a statement Tuesday. “The department respects everyone’s First Amendment rights, however all demonstrations must be done peacefully and legally.”Welp. The part about protestors showing up happened. The peaceful part didn't:
https://x.com/CapitolPolice/status/181616926017287...Part of the crowd has started to become violent at First Street and Constitution Avenue, NW. The crowd failed to obey our order to move back from our police line. We are deploying pepper spray towards anyone trying to break the law and cross that line. How desperate will the democrats get?
Do they think that standing with Israel - i.e., doing the right thing - is worth it if it costs them Michigan and with that, the election?

According to Republican sources, this was just legitimate political discourse.

Nah. They were just being Mostly Peaceful.
BTW. Are these a bunch of Trumpies? I'll answer for you:
Nope.
These are the people you're going to bend over backwards for in Michigan.

You know that if the police had done nothing you’d be complaining about Democrats being soft on crime.
But this was the right choice. The problem wasn’t the protest, which is perfectly fine. The problem was protesters crossing the line into an area that needed to remain secure.

democrats *are* soft on crime. They created the Defund the Police nonsense, the public hated it, and now we have democrats sounding like Republicans.
But that wasn't my point. My point was that *these are the people* you're going to go get into bed with in Michigan. Enjoy that.

But if Democrats ARE soft soft on crime, why did they crack down on a group that might be helpful to them in the upcoming election?
Wouldn’t it have been better to let the protesters who had crossed the line into an illegal protest go? Perhaps even encourage them?
Oh. Silly me. That’s a Trump thing.

Cops aren't democrats, for one.

You mean encouraging them to riot by having/endorsing bail funds for people who burn down police stations and injure cops?
Forgot about that one, didn't you?
