On Multi-Billion dollar transactions, big businesses have cadres of lawyers and accountants and underwriters to vet each loan application. Certainly scrutinized to a much higher degree than my Credit Union does when I apply for a car loan.
Real estate valuations are subjective, so who is to say what a given property is worth. That is why the lender should do their own due diligence, eg get an outside appraisal and not rely on Trumps estimate. I'll bet your bank did exactly that when you got your last home loan.
This whole prosecution is a result of an ambition Attorney General seeking office on the promise to get Trump and relying on enough TDS infected voters to get elected on that oromise alone.
