Just a random thought.

Eclipses used to be regarded as bad omens. People feared them. I think "astrologers" sometimes lost their heads over them because they didn't accurately predict them (so the gods must be angry).

Now, people flock to them. They reserve hotels sometimes years in advance so they can be in the path of totality.

Amazing what a difference a little knowledge makes.


(We had some "eclipse glasses", and were able to see from Arizona a sizable chunk taken out of the sun. It was cool, even if I know what it was.
