Can anyone explain Trump's magnet rant to me?

I think Trump is saying that it's because these are electromagnets, that - presumably, I didn't check it - power the elevators and catapults on modern aircraft carriers - Trump was referring specifically to the U.S.S. Gerald Ford - and you can short out electric circuits with water. Ipso facto, water destroys magnets, QED.
