I have considerable contempt for Ford CEO Farley, because he is such a hypocritical a$$
Ford CEO wants level playing field with Toyota, GM imports as USMCA trade talks reopen
He told CNBC he wants automakers such as Ford that largely produce their vehicles domestically to be awarded under the deal. Along with that, Farley said other automakers — such as General Motors and Toyota Motor — that may produce here but also heavily rely on imported vehicles should get more penalties.
“Ford’s a leader of U.S. auto production with the most U.S.-built vehicles but, more importantly, we import very few, and we export the most, and we have the most UAW [union] workers here,” Farley said. “So we’re very proud, especially of the ratio between what we build here and what we import.”https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/02/ford-jim-farley-us...So, Farley's idea of a "level playing field" is for his company to be given protection by the government, while other companies, that import anything. be penalized, even when they produce most of their product line in the US.
A break for some facts: most of the models imported by GM, Toyota, and Hyundai, are smaller, lower priced, models. Ford has abandoned those lower price, lower profit, market segments, to juice it's ATP and GP metrics. So Farley is complaining about cars that Ford does not compete with. Cripe! What a horse's patoot!
And, for those who may have missed it, Farley also wants to put all the electronics in Ford vehicles behind a firewall, so they can only be serviced by Ford dealers, that have the firewall key. Imagine how much he would extort from Ford owners, if Ford dealers had a monopoly on servicing their cars.
