The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

So, whenever president Biden makes a verbal gaffe, conservatives claim it's a sign of his diminishing cognitive powers, a sign of possible dementia. But whenever candidate Trump talks nonsense, it's "small stuff" and there's no time to sweat the small stuff.

Here are some of what Trump said in just his last two speeches [To make matter worse, most of his comments came after the news that Israel suffered a horrific attack was all over the media]:

Trump said we need to stop child "mutilization."

Trump said Hannibal Lecter was a great actor who loves him. There is no record of Anthony Hopkins, the actor who played Hannibal Lecter, ever having said he loved Trump. In fact, Hopkins has said most actors are idiots and should never express opinions about politics.

Trump told a Winston Churchill story and did a Churchill impersonation, quoting him: "Never have so few done so much for so many." For the record, the actual quote was: "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."

Trump referred to General Milley as stupid. Now unless I'm badly mistaken, Trump appointed Milley. So who, exactly, is stupid? And Trump did an impersonation of Milley, as well.

Trump said he's being denied a jury trial and it has nothing to do with a box that his lawyer didn't check, even though it was his own campaign that claimed his attorney didn't check a box.

Trump said that you don't need an ID to go and cast a vote, but you need one to buy a loaf of bread. [A claim he has repeated.]

After talking about president Biden at the beach in a bathing suit, Trump said that he has a better body.

Trump said that he won Wisconsin in 2020.
