That's a good article, thanks. Yes, my concern is if we take the data down and store it, even if we have a library we may get rid of the few people who know where it's stored, or how to use it, and the formulas used to correct for errors may be lost. We could lose an understanding of some of the data and spend time relearning it, or just wing it.
I think there's pressure regularly on the data gatherers to skew the data more favorably. Trump is declaring that he has control over independent agencies. Remember one of the first things Cuomo's replacement did was add 12,000 deaths to the Covid death toll that had been left off. Having good reliable info adds stability - don't mess with it.
