Oops. Looks like Trump's new pick to head the BLS, E.J. Antoni, after he fired the previous one, won't last much longer.
Or perhaps it really is true that the head of the BLS has little ability to affect the numbers that the BLS releases, as was said after Erika McEntarfer was fired.

Or perhaps Antoni hasn't been there long enough to put the right thinking statisticians in place. I expect we will see a difference in the reports in a month or two regardless of what people are experiencing IRL.

His nibs showed, several years ago, you can change any reality you wish, with a black Sharpie.

And this was Trump yesterday, already backpedaling before the new numbers were released:
President Trump said Thursday that “real” jobs numbers will come next year, ahead of the Bureau of Labor Statistics’s (BLS) first jobs report since he fired its leader in response to dismal numbers in July.
“They come out tomorrow, but the real numbers that I’m talking about are going to be whatever it is, but will be in a year from now on,” Trump told reporters while flanked by more than two dozen top tech executives at a White House dinner.
He said that when “huge, beautiful places, the palaces of genius” open, job numbers will improve. He did not specify what projects he was referring to.
“When they start opening up … I think you’ll see job numbers that are going to be absolutely incredible,” Trump said. “Right now, it’s a lot of construction numbers, but you’re going to see job numbers like our country has never seen.”What "palaces of genius" he's talking about I'm not sure, but it probably has something to do with all the tech titans present at this same press conference.

I have a friend in the high tech world that just got laid off as his job was moved to India. The world has been building "genius" capacity outside the US for several decades now. It has been pretty rough sledding for those trying to offshore high tech jobs, but it continually gets easier. The world is a VERY DIFFERENT place than it was "back in the day".

And “back in the day” wasn’t all that long ago.

"Trump said" is just another way of saying Trump lies his ass off.
