This might be the wrong thing for the person who is the moderator to say, but investing is a strange field. An intermediate investor does better than an advanced intermediate investor. An intermediate investor has a few index ETFS, has the right mixture of bonds, and stocks, and the right mix of international and domestic. The advanced intermediate knows options, knows how to read financial statements, knows many technical indicators, and probably does slightly worse than the market. But, and this is very important, if on your death bed, someone says, even with all those charts or screens you used, if you just bought the s and p, you would have done 1% better, if you can say, I had a great time with the market it is worth it.

That's the difference, assuming you were fairly close to the s and p's results, you will be happy how much fun you had in the market.
