The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

It almost sounds like someone (perhaps a UN coalition) needs to step in decisively, remove Israel’s nuclear weapons - by force if necessary - then back away and let the whole place go to pot. It will be a humanitarian nightmare, but sometimes you have to let people get what they are asking for to learn how bad their choices are. Provide a path for well controlled emigration from the area, of course.

Completely delusional thinking. Watching what happened in Iran, when someone decided to prevent them from developing nuclear weapons that they don’t have, and saying - let’s do that to a country that already has them, and expecting anything but disaster, is bonkers. How about disarming North Korea’s nuclear weapons, buddy? They’re already a threat to American territory. You wanna try that first?

There’s already a humanitarian nightmare in the Middle East, particularly in Israel and Palestine. It’s been going on and off for 100 years. Making it worse is not going to make anything better.

And who do you think can set up a “well controlled emigration” from the area? Who do you expect to emigrate? Where to? Why would they agree, when both sides believe they have a god given right to holy rocks?

It seems that the same people who think the problems of the area are due to colonialism of the past seek to solve those problem by using colonialist methods, treating the people they want to “save” as pawns in a delusional scheme to help themselves sleep better with their saintly self image.
