Local News report this AM concerning the need to increase diversity in the airline industry.
among the Airline Pilot and “Front line” workers, where the racial breakdown currently is:
- 48.1% White
- 18.2% Hispanic
- 15.1% Black
The morning news segment includes an on campus visit showing recruitment aimed at HBU’s (Historical Black Univ), where it is emphasized that students need see Pilots who looks like them to encourage ... yada yada
It sure looks discriminatory doesn’t it. Blacks only one third of whites. Clear evidence of that systematic racism keeping its foot on the neck of aspiring blacks entering the industry.
Meanwhile, Google reports this population breakdown as of Dec 2020:
- White: 60.1% (Non-Hispanic)
- Hispanic: 18.5%
- Black: 12.2%
So it appears that Blacks in aviation are more or less fairly represented and if any ethnicity is under represented, it is the whites. Nevertheless, I know my place so should have done my best to maintain my sense of white guilt, and not question the spin intended by the local news report.

While we're on the subject, Trump manufactured a rally this weekend in Detroit at a predominantly Black church to promote the MAGA campaign's 'Blacks for Trump' fantasy.
Among the "Blacks for Trump" were imported 'influencers' including
"Michaelah Montgomery, the woman who supposedly without prompting cried out at a Chick-fil-A appearance in Atlanta “We support you!” and even got a unstaged hug from the ex-president—only to be unmasked as the head of a conservative group that works with professional troll Candace Owens."A scan of the audience shows Trump's unique ability to turn a black congregation mostly white, and tell them crime is rampant in their city when, in fact, Detroit homicide is at a 53 year low.

You might need your coffee:
From BMH's data (unchecked):
Airline workers:
48.1% White, 15.1% Black
Population at large:
White: 60.1%, Black: 12.2%
So, 15.1 > 12.2 implies blacks are overrepresented in the Airline industry,
and 48.1 < 60.1 implies whites are underrepresented.
(Unless I'm missing the point entirely.)
