Just a random thought...
When I die, there's a better than even chance that I'll be on hold when I do. I seem to spend a lot of my life on hold, often with insurance companies or medical billing departments.
[so far on hold for 45 minutes, with music that sounds like it is from a transmitter that is just out of range...no indication of when I'll be "caller number 1"]

70 minutes this hold lasted.
I was actually able to field a call from another company while on hold, and when I got back to the first call I was still on hold.

This is how we spend our modern lives: on hold on the phone, and at stoplights.
Last year I had reason to talk to a real person at Social Security. Long wait times, really long. And then you sometimes get someone who seems clueless, or at least new to the job, and then once it a while you get a really knowledgeable and helpful person.
With the new 'streamlined' DOGE SSA, will there be any hope of talking to a real person? Most automated systems SUCK.

Don't even get me started on the automated systems!
I can deal with "for sales press 1, for billing 2, for customer service 3". OK, fine. But now it's "I can understand complete sentences, tell me what you want"...except it doesn't understand complete sentences!! At least not when I say them. I just end up saying "representative" multiple times until it transfers me to a live person. The trick of pressing "0" doesn't work anymore. Sometimes it does, but usually I get "that is not a valid response".
I will likely have to spend some time on hold today, also. The "supervisor" never called me back, so I have to reach out again.

Yes, maddening.
