I was saddened to read a few ays ago that the Saudis were sending less money to non Uncle Tom Muslim groups (what some would call extremists) in places like Indonesia.

NY most certainly could use some discipline and reverence.
I spent a little time in Egypt and the call to prayer had a calming affect as do the church bells from the church several blocks from my house.

I've always enjoyed the church bells from the church several blocks away from my apartment in Manhattan. Or "that scummy place" as you love to say. Some difficult aspects here, yes (as in a great many other places), but a wonderful city, a very special place, and the only place I can imagine living. The variety, the diversity, the meeting place of cultures from around the world (languages, customs, foods, you name it), the sense of history...... And so much more.
