Yes. Economic activity can grind to a halt because of many reasons, tariffs is one, but uncertainty is a big another. How is a CEO supposed to make long-term plans when we don't know what will happen tomorrow? nobody is building factories in US right now, and all the imports are going to be more costly by at least 10% and many of them 145%. Very hard to see how that does not cause a stagflation, which is recession and inflation at the same time, to inflict maximum pain on Americans.
