The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

I thought I would post this. Some of the PEW questions I had difficulty answering because none of the options really reflected me. But it said I'm a "democratic mainstay". Apparently, that's the largest group on their spectrum.

pewresearch.org - Political typology

I prefer this one because it asks more questions to get a better "reading".

politicalcompass.org: The Political Compass

I haven't taken this in a few years. I'm sort of central in the lower left quadrant (left-libertarian). Last time I was in the same quadrant, but I'm not sure if it was quite as far left or down. Probably my answers reflect current events (e.g. abortion/Roe/AZ), which weren't stressors the last time.

I once saw this chart listing several prominent figures (like Clinton, Reagan, Hitler, Ghandi, maybe Thatcher, and several others). I wish I could find a recent version of that chart. It would be interesting to see modern figures on it (like Biden, Trump, Johnson, Xi, Putin, Sunak, Merkel, Scholz, and some others).

There are a few charts on the left side, but they seem limited (e.g. just the US). Biden and Trump are surprisingly close together as right-authoritarians. I appear to be closer to Hawkins. politicalcompass.org: The Political Compass
