Not every voter - not every "me" or "I" in your formulation - decides to cast their vote this way. Some voters, before they get to a comparison between the candidates, will reject a candidate out of hand as just being unsupportable. Disqualified. Unacceptable.

Well put. For many, Trump was and is that candidate. But as you said for many others, now Biden is that candidate.

BTW I realize that it was presumptuous of me to say that I am the average American voter. But I think the "I" above is somewhere near the median.
