The unanimous decision from the appeals court isn't the only legal news out of Trump World lately.
One item found in Trump's campaign disclosures for the latter half of 2023 is that among the $50 million in expenses picked up by his PAC was a sum of $283,100 he spent hiring two retired NYPD offices to trail Alina Habba and investigate her. It appears that even prior to the loss in the $5 million dollar verdict, Trump was concerned his lawyers weren't doing all they could in his defense and he wanted to know who they were meeting and what they were doing. But curiously, there's no mention of Trump putting a tail on his MALE lawyers, only Habba. Sexist, no? Creepy, no? I wonder how this might go over with undecided, independent, professional female voters. I guess we'll find out.
Another item... Trump's favorite "body man" Walt Nauta actually stayed on at the White House through April 2021 after Biden took over continuing to work for the Navy. However, in Spring 2021, other staffers noted problems with inappropriate relationships between superiors and subordinates in a (routine?) anonymous survey the Navy took regarding the operation of its staff at the White House. Those complaints quickly became mapped to Nauta, at which point the Navy immediately yanked his clearance and relocated him to some other position outside of the White House. He then quickly retired and went to work for Trump in Florida. Among the charges made by the person originating the complaint was inappropriate sexual conduct and revenge porn against the complainant.
And.... another item. The other defendant in Trump's document case in Florida, Tweedle Dumber or Carlos de Oliveira, hired a lawyer who might give Alina Habba a run for her money in the Most Incompetent Esquire competition. Jack Smith's team filed a counter-motion in response to documents filed by de Oliveira's attorney John Irving who claimed he was going to need more time to review evidence in the case because he was unable to view the hours of closed circuit TV recordings the prosecution collected from Mar-a-Lago because...
...the lawyer did not own ANY computer and was unable to view the digital video files.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Has it even been POSSIBLE to graduate law school in the last fifteen years without DAILY use of a laptop computer? Is it POSSIBLE to be a practicing lawyer, submitting documents to state and federal courts, most of which are managed by online electronic scheduling and document management tools to ensure accurate timestamping of documents going in and out and to ensure appropriate security on all documents? How has the lawyer been handling these other tasks to date? Does he go to the nearest public library and use a public computer?
But the story gets better. In the counter-motion filed by Jack Smith's team, they not only refute the claim that the defense has any excuse for falling behind in reviewing evidence, Smith's team actually PROVIDED lawyer Irving a government owned laptop within HOURS of hearing a complaint that the defense lacked a computer to review the evidence.
If any other judge was involved in this case except Aileen Cannon, this lawyer should have been fined for filing frivolous motions and possibly referred to the state bar for yanking their license for materially mis-representing facts to a judge.
This is like being forced to watch a bad mash-up of Law & Order and Dumb and Dumber on acid.

Looks like there was a missed defense for Trump in his New York fraud trial.
Alina Habba should have delayed the trial my filing a motion that she couldn't keep up with all of the financial arguments using only her abacus. She might have been able to drag it out another year or so.
