I am curious what the best books people ever read on investing. I will list some of mine. I like them all for different reasons. The first one is Analysis for Financial Management. This teaches you finance. There are problem to solve at the end of each chapter so you really learn it. The next one is the Four Pillars of Investing. This one teaches you about Asset Allocation. It is a little dated now. Another good one is called Value Growth Investing. This teaches you everything you could possibility want to know about analyzing a business qualitatively. Next is Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications. This is a text book on Technical Analysis. The first options book to read is the Encyclopedia of Covered Calls by Alan Elman. After you read that, I like the book Intrinsic, which tells you how to buy Deep In the Money Leaps. Finally, I like the book, Fire Your Stock Analyst which tells you in great detail how to pick stocks.

My favorite is Morgan Housel - "The Psychology of Money". I wish I had read this much earlier, but it is an excellent, well written, and can be understood by all investors. The biggest lessons I took from the book were how improbable outstanding success is (Bill Gates was featured as an example of this), how inaccurate we really are about intelligently estimating the future (and how much we over rely on history to predict the future), and to understand what investing game you are playing, because there are multiple ways to be successful as investor. There are many more, but in my estimation a lot of the other investing books really focus on which game you are playing (i.e. long term buy and hold, trading etc.).

It’s good to build my reading list. I took the liberty of linking this post in a separate book review page especially created for book reviews. Please consider posting there as well. Just easier to find titles under one page.

I recall Housel said 99% of WEB’s wealth was achieved After he had his 65th birthday- so mind blowing, nature of compounding big #s!

Speaking of birthdays- funny, my middle schooler mailed him a colorful homemade card and (on his own) said “Happy 94th Birthday Uncle Warren!”
