I would have clapped, too. She was being a butt-hole. Just sit in your seat, and don't talk to anyone, and the flight will be fine. That's what I do. I have no interest in what the person in the window seat has to say (I always book an aisle). Just leave me alone to watch my movie on a screen smaller than my first TV (an 8" B&W Sony). I've only sat next to a chatty passenger once...he was in love with his truck. Lots of customization. Any woman that didn't understand his truck, he had no interest. Seriously. I couldn't have cared less, though it does give me a mildly amusing anecdote all these years later. (For the record, he wasn't a butt-hole...just couldn't shut up.)
Reps and Trumpies don't have a monopoly on butt-holes. Though they do seem to have a disproportionate number of them.
