Opinion piece in the Atlantic:

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2023/07/...

I am deeply grateful to Joe Biden. By defeating Donald Trump in 2020, he rescued this country from the continuing misrule of a dangerous grifter and serial liar, a man gripped by vindictiveness, lawlessness, and egomania. By contrast, Biden presented himself, correctly, as a decent, experienced, and entirely normal politician. He may even have saved his country. Americans owe him a profound debt of respect and appreciation.

He also has no business running for president at age 80.

I thought he was to be a one and done. Save us from the MAGAs, pave the way for the next generation. Was surprised he was going for a second.

I hope not.

He wants corporate taxes lower than Trump.

He's into drill baby drill.

Student loan forgiveness - NO. Lip Service.

Record defense spending.

I don't like the constant attempt to start World War 3.......

But other than that, the constant repudiation of what Progressives *pretend* to care about is pretty cool.

As was banning a TransActivist from the White House for lack of decency. Excellent.

WiltonKnight: He wants corporate taxes lower than Trump.

Jeez, your trolling is tiresome. Biden clearly does not want "corporate taxes lower than Trump". The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, HR 5376 (the Act), imposes a new 15% corporate minimum tax on certain large corporations (the Corporate AMT). Biden would like higher corporate taxes but doesn't have the votes.

WiltonKnight: He's into drill baby drill.

On his first day in office, Biden signed an Executive Order to impose a temporary moratorium on oil and gas lease activities in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, withdrew offshore areas in Arctic waters and the Bering Sea from oil and gas drilling, and revoked a key permit for the Keystone XL pipeline. In June 2021, the Biden administration suspended oil and gas leases in ANWR.

In his second week in office, he signed another Order that put a 'pause' on new oil and gas leasing on federal lands and offshore waters. But there was a legacy system as well as considerable litigation that has blocked Biden's proposed reforms.

WiltonKnight: Student loan forgiveness - NO. Lip Service.

Since the Supreme Court struck down his forgiveness plan, president Biden has been forced to move to Plan B, based on the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965 and has moved to reduce monthly payments, stop interest accruals and forgive debts after 10 to 25 years.

WiltonKnight: Record defense spending.

Practically every new budget brings record defense spending. That's how the sausage gets made.

WiltonKnight: I don't like the constant attempt to start World War 3

Yeah, that's not happening.

Rose Montoya played a stupid game and won a stupid prize.

Yes, how convenient - a talking point he knows won't be passed so his corporate buddies will be ok ;)

Oh....

And 15% is a lower corporate rate than under Bush.

You Supply Siders have gone wild.

That is when you aren't doing Reagan Spending on Defense.

BTW - the corporate AMT has not had enough time to sink in.

Your Great Biden economy is great! Without "raising taxes on the rich".

I'm in full agreement.

What's next? Tear Down This Wall?
