“Job Growth Falls Way Short Of Expectations As Unemployment Ticks Up”
SNIP
“The U.S. added 175,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in April as the unemployment rate ticked up to 3.9%, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released Friday. Economists anticipated that the country would add 243,000 jobs in April compared to the 303,000 jobs that were added in initial estimates for March, and that the unemployment rate would remain unchanged at 3.8%, according to Reuters. The job gains accompany recent slow economic growth, with gross domestic product totaling just 1.6% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2024. Inflation has continued to wreak havoc on businesses looking to hire, measuring 3.5% year-over-year in March, up from 3.2%”

LurkerMom: “The U.S. added 175,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in April...

Republicans keep hoping for the economy to go into recession or stagflation but the economy just keeps chugging along toward a soft landing, disappointing them. This number will actually ease fears about reacceleration/overheating.

So market happy, Fed happy, rate cut now possibly coming sooner than planned and republicans bummed.

• 15.4 million jobs added since president Biden took office.

• Unemployment stays below 4% for 27 straight months -- over TWO YEARS.

• Prime-working-age labor force participation rate at 20-year high.

• Wage growth is above inflation.

Yeah, terrible news.

A John Prine cite! Have a rec.

"Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood."

Add: "Blow up your TV, throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try and find Jesus on your own."

(For our atheist friends.... John was not a fan of religious institutions.)

That’s okay commomone, grovel some more. I’ll leave the last word to Reuters..

BLS stats are interesting. Wait a month and they’ll change them.

One question, though. The economy is awesome. Why do we need a rate cut?

LurkerMom: I’ll leave the last word to Reuters..

Here are the facts, not from Reuters but from the real world:

Trump lost 2.9 million jobs during his presidency and left office with a 6.3% unemployment rate.

Biden has added 15.4 million jobs and has kept the unemployment rate below 4.0% for a modern record 27 straight months.

Trump lost, on average, 59,000 jobs per month during his presidency -- negative 59,000 jobs per month.

Biden added an average 385,000 jobs per month during his presidency, the best jobs performance by any president dating back to before Carter was in office.

Dope1: Wait a month and they’ll change them.

BLS posted the revisions for February and March. In total, those months were revised down 22,000 jobs which means those two months still added 561,000 -- over a half million -- jobs.

Dope1: Why do we need a rate cut?

Because the Fed risks tipping the economy into a recession by not lowering rates more than by squeezing out the so-called “last mile” of inflation by keeping borrowing costs higher for longer than needed. As the labor market cools, the playbook changes.

Here are the facts,

...distorted to high heaven.

Trump lost 2.9 million jobs d

The pandemic shutdowns that democrats wanted did that. Not Trump's economic policies. Must you start every post with dishonesty?

Biden has added 15.4 million jobs

Zero for two. Biden hasn't "added" 15 million jobs. Those were jobs returning from the pandemic.

Sheesh already.

Trump lost, on average, 59,000

Zero for 3, per above. You're on a roll.

Dude, just stop. Who do you think you're fooling with this?

Because the Fed risks tipping the economy into a recession by not lowering rates more than by squeezing out the so-called “last mile” of inflation by keeping borrowing costs higher for longer than needed. As the labor market cools, the playbook changes.

You've been telling us for months how Super Awesome the economy is.

Not being said much but it seems that the jobs that Biden is "adding" are...part time jobs.

Meaning, to make ends meet thanks to Bidenomics, people have to take on a 2nd or a 3rd job.

YaYa, we all know that. A funny thing happened..a pandemic! Workers stayed home.
And then the pandemic went away and they returned to work, giving the false assumption it was Biden who created the job growth.

Please stop it with your nonsense. We’ve been through this before.

Over 95,000 Americans died in January when Joe Biden was sworn into office. Biden inherited an out of control public health crisis completely mismanaged by the "we'll beat this with the injection of disinfectant" nitwit.

Plus, every president is faced with challenges. You think Trump deserves a mulligan for a pandemic that he mismanaged and let kill over a million Americans?

Umm, nope.

LurkerMom: We’ve been through this before.

And yet you never seem to learn... because you're in a frickin' cult.

Biden inherited an out of control public h

Biden inherited multiple vaccines and programs designed to rapidly produce and bring to market ventilators.

Again, every post starts with rank dishonesty. Enough, already.

Oh my Commomone, I didn’t mean to upset you, I guess that is what happens when you are presented with the truth.
I understand though when one has to grovel and lie for a dementia old man because a D follows his name. Sigh 😞
