I'm sorry I'm too lazy to read the news---I've been this way for years now.
I saw a headline that Obama's library is gonna open.
Is Trump attending?
I sure hope Obama hasn't lowered himself and allowed that.

I would expect Obama to be a class act, and invite everyone, regardless what he personally thinks. Of course, if Trump got near a mike, he would make it all about himself.

You mean the concrete Klingon prison complex that now adorns Chicago's south side? Maybe Obama could invite all the contractors they stiffed during the building process.

Is Trump attending?
News reports indicate all of the former presidents will be attending so I take that to mean no, trump will not be there.
And why would he? All the attention will be on Obama, someone trump, with his Obama Derangement Syndrome, has always envied and tried to marginalize. This will be the opposite with the focus on Obama and his successes, which only put in high relief trump's failures. I'm sure trump will be acting like the giant toddler that he is, though, in some way trying to divert attention back to him. Get out the popcorn!

It is sub-contractors, not contractors, that small businesses are complaining about not being paid.
I’m not an attorney nor have I worked in construction. However, when we had our kitchen redone a while back, we hired a contractor to do the job. The contractor, in turn, hired sub-contractors to do specific tasks (install a wood floor, put the marble countertop in, etc.). We had a schedule to pay the contractor and that’s exactly what we did according to the contract terms. The contractor had contracts with sub-contractors. It was the contractors responsibility to pay the sub-contractors, not ours.
Having said that, if the stories are accurate, I think Obama should be leaning on the contractor to pay the sub-contractors. Of course, the actual wording of the contracts will be the final say, in theory.

The local noon "news" just ran a piece on it. I agree. What a monstrosity. I have only been to one Presidential library, the one for Jerry Ford, in Grand Rapids. Actually been in it twice; when I first retired in 2012, and again, a few years later, after the remodel. The remodel took some interesting things out, like the interview notes of the U of M admissions officer, and a Newsweek cover of Jerry, and Kissinger, in battle dress, charging up a sand dune, under the headline "a war for oil?" The stairs from the US embassy in Saigon are still there, but it's harder to find then it used to be.
I'll give Trump credit for being a "statesman", in admitting the magnitude of his screwup in Iran. But, true to form, he is buying his way out of it with other people's money.

I've always wanted to visit Reagan's. It's supposed to be beautiful and they have his Presidential 747 mounted inside.

While I wouldn't call it a monstrosity, the dearth of windows is an odd choice. It would look more at home in the deserts of Egypt alongside the Great Pyramids than in South Side Chicago. I see where it got the nickname The Obamalisk.

I"m glad Trump won't be there.
Like them or not.....
I frankly don't view any President in my lifetime --- as an INDECENT human being.
Until --now.
I don't want the Trailer Park at any Presidential Library event.

After reading this article, I want to see it.

Given how there are many buildings that began their lives as eyesores to the critics but became well loved icons of design and use, it wouldn't surprise me if the Obama Center made that move too. Let's check back in 25 or 50 years.

The more I see of the "Obamalisk", the more I like it. And I can guarantee that it was infinitely better planned and engineered than the ballroom and arc have been and will be.
