I remember saying - with no joy--- that a nuclear end to certain swaths of humankind, was the sole way and anything less will mean continued tit for tat, and continued death on all sides.
All the smart bombs and iron domes in the world won't ever solve this problem.
Some species - need to be extinct.
Don't like it, fine - go back to watching reruns on your news channel of choice.
When's the next one?

I sadly agree that large swaths of the population will be evaporated in nuclear fireballs. And it -most likely- will be justified by religion. Israel has nukes, and Iran is developing them (thank you, Trump!). As scary as the Cold War was, that will be scarier. Iran (and much of the Muslim world) has sworn that nothing short of wiping Israel from the map is acceptable. Obviously, Israel will not go quietly.
I realize that the nation of Palestine was reassigned to the Jewish people, and renamed "Israel". With very little consideration to the Palestinians already living there. Before that, there were Zionist terrorists that the British were contending with. I don't know how often that pendulum has swung, but it seems like several times. Enough that both "sides" can make a convincing claim. I also note that BOTH are a Semitic people, so they have more in common than either do with their other neighbors. Israel has expanded beyond their internationally-recognized borders, and are bascially stealing more land at this point. Which, of course, raises the ire of those from whom the land is being stolen.
But a lot of it is about religion. They're fighting over a piece of desert that doesn't even have any oil under it, but it does have the "Temple Mount" that all three Abrahamic religions deem significant.**
**I always find some amusement that even within the same group, there are divisions, and fights break out about who gets to sweep the floor of one of the churches. Whacking each other with brooms, etc. It's so stupid, it's funny. Though I don't think that's on the Temple Mount, but I think it still is in Jerusalem.
