I'm a US citizen living in the US.

I finished selling my US stock index funds today.

With a few exceptions, I see too many US business leaders
collaborating, or obeying in advance, with what is happening
in the US.

The only US investments I still have are treasury bonds, and
Berkshire Hathaway. If Buffett starts acting like
Bezos, Musk, Cook and Zuckerberg, because he thinks it will
make more money, I'll dump that, too.

I want to invest in countries that have laws.

I now own shares in the largest Canadian companies
(sort of making my own index fund), and I'm now
working on Europe.

By "working on Europe", I mean constructing my
own stock index funds by purchasing shares in
relatively ethical and profitable companies based
in countries with laws.

I know the US still has laws, but the legal system
might collapse, given the threats against judges
and law firms.

LOl I'm MAGA-adjacent and 50% of my holdings are actually European (rolls Royce) lol. Well maybe a little less than 50% as I sold some of it.

Then BRK.B

Mind you have never done the stock market thing but for quick trades during stuff like 9-11 or financial crash, etc.

Echota, let's leave this board in peace.

I think many of us are deeply taken aback at the turn of events. I apologize to Canada, can't believe we are having a trade war with our good neighbors to the north.

Yes, you've been MAGA all along, and pretending to not be MAGA. So what type of retirement account have you set up?

"Yes, you've been MAGA all along, and pretending to not be MAGA. So what type of retirement account have you set up?"
****

Really? Just because I do nuance, and you are extreme - I'm full MAGA? (Nothing wrong with that but - no, I'm not)

Not sure what one's political stance has to do with their financial planning, but as usual, yours truly never hides.

Pretending not to be MAGA? Nope, the Gutless Wonder here is not me. I say where I stand, have done so for decades. AS USUAL, UNLIKE SOME, I answer questions head on:

*I voted Biden, proudly in 2020.

*Still sad Biden was booted.

*I am PRO CHIPS act - on the record here.

*I am PRO infrastructure law - on the record here.

*I recently wrote to BOTH Senators in SUPPORT of Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security preservation. I have a letter from Fetterman's staff in response. I'll forward it to wzambon to verify if you want proof.

SOME aspects of MAGA I'VE LONG advocated for - as usual I was ahead of the game and only recently those issues started winning so if supporting SOME of an agenda means one is "all in" - well, you're a Mullah and a Falwell and all you know is extremes. RETIREMENT.....hey. nothing is guaranteed but:

My retirement plan ...........

*1.8GPA in high School. (A's in AP Government and 1st prize in all marketing and speech competitions - D's and F's everywhere else.) Cheated to graduate, expertly done and proud of it:) Black Sheep in my family - least successful kid in my generation is a lawyer who is one step under C-Suite.

*I walked out of the SAT test before it started and ate lunch at Merlin's in West Bloomfield MI :) I was working at both the local pool and Sbarro's pizza at that age so I had money. Cheeseburger, chili-cheese-onion fries, coke, and my US News and World Report is how I passed time so parents thought I was taking the test. (Paul Bedard and David Gergen I liked their work)

*I am 49 now, I've not worked since 45.

Retirement? Nothing is guaranteed but the usual Florida trip is Spring break, and family doesn't know but Alaska cruise is July. I've taken DD to two campuses for college visits.

Zero debt other than monthly credit cards (I'm a slutty whore for points:)

If I can earn an average *nominal* return of 4.5%, and inflation is 2.5%, calculations say I'll have a few bucks left if I croak at 90 and believe me, my fat ass ain't living till 90. This assumes I'll get Social Security with a 20% across the board cut in benefits. This factors in 100% college paid for kids, plus some seed money vis a vis house down payment, emergency fund, etc.

Still not sure what MAGA and one's retirement has to do with each other but there you go.

Let me know again how I'm totally MAGA, or totally NOT MAGA ---that extreme follower shit is for you people --- not for this writer ;)

I'm an American. A voter. Someone with freedom to make up my own mind.

Reagan. Carter. HW Bush. W Bush. Obama. Bill Clinton. Ross Perot. Pat Buchanan. Donald Trump.

I can tell you things I LIKE about each of those men. AND things I dislike about each too. (Policy and personality both)

The FoxTards and MsnbcMorons - you people are the rabbits and robots - not me.
