And it's not Trump.

https://substack.com/@taibbi/note/c-52686860

Why I don’t spend a lot of time on the Republicans:

1) There is a enormous army of MSM reporters already going after them from every angle, with most major news organizations little more than proxies for the DNC, to the point where stations hire Biden spokespeople as anchors;

Yeah, but what about Ronna???

2) The Republicans have very little institutional power nationally. It’s not their point of view prevailing in schools, on campuses, in newsrooms (where over 90% of working reporters vote blue), and especially in the intelligence and military apparatus, which has openly aligned itself with Democrats. Even if Donald Trump were a “threat to Democracy” he lacks the institutional pull to do much damage, which can’t be said of Democrats;

al has made this point. When you have the Deep State, you're always in power.

3) The Democrats’ ambitions are significantly more dangerous than those of the Republicans. From digital surveillance to censorship to making Intel and enforcement agencies central players in domestic governance — all plans being executed globally as well as in our one country — they are thinking on a much bigger and more dangerous scale than Republicans. I lived in third world countries and the endless criminal indictments of people like Trump and ongoing lawfare efforts to prevent even third party challenges are classic authoritarian symptoms. The Republicans aren’t near this kind of capability;

Who is suing to keep RFK off the ballot and why would anyone care?

It's an excellent summary. The comments are great, too.

I suspect that has more to do with their self - image than anything else. After all how can you be an brave, virtuous, sophisticated, intellectually and morally superior, defender of the Gospel according to Obama, if the rest of the world ISN’T ‘Deliverance All The Way Down”?

The modern left is in constant need of an opponent that is not just an immediate threat to everything they claim to hold dear, but also weak, disorganized, and preferably fictional so that their self-designated moral crusades will be completely cost free. That’s why they are always willing to “resist” and rally against political movements that were defeated decades, if not centuries ago. They will cheerfully go into battle against long dead Nazis and barely remembered Confederate Heroes, but will fold like a house of cards when faced with a real threat, like Islamic Terrorism, ISIS, or Hamas… because look what happened to Theo Van Gogh!!

Resistance Without Cost is a central tenant of the modern leftist ethos. It's why you see so many places proclaim themselves "Sanctuary cities" but recoil when faced with the consequences.

Dope1: most major news organizations little more than proxies for the DNC...especially in the intelligence and military apparatus, which has openly aligned itself with Democrats. ... When you have the Deep State, you're always in power. ... The Democrats’ ambitions are significantly more dangerous than those of the Republicans. From digital surveillance...

Deep State? Perhaps you and Taibbi have forgotten the warrantless spying by republican President Bush after the Sept. 11 attacks when his administration “secretly authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on Americans and others inside the United States to search for evidence of terrorist activity without the court-approved warrants ordinarily required for domestic spying.”

The rest of Taibbi's claims are jaw dropping for their cluelessness.

Let's review.

Trump began his campaign in 2016 pushing Birtherism, the racist lie that Obama wasn’t a legitimate president, and on “locking up” Clinton, his presidential opponent.

His own former Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper said Trump wanted to shoot protesters engaged in civil unrest.

In 2021, after months of lying about a “rigged" election, Trump assembled a mob in Washington DC and sent them to storm the Capitol, telling them to “fight like hell” or they wouldn't “have a country anymore.” He stood by and did nothing as they tried to find and hang his own vice president.

So Trump has escalated from racism and threats of imprisonment to inciting acts of violence.

On Thursday Trump encouraged violence against the sitting President.

Trump said he will be a dictator on Day One.

Trump's Project 2025 seeks to recruit tens of thousands of conservatives to replace existing federal civil service workers to further his objective to give him absolute power over the executive branch.

Trump proposes slashing U.S. Department of Justice funding, dismantling the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, gutting environmental and climate change regulations, and eliminating the cabinet Departments of Education and Commerce.

Project 2025 would seek to immediately invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807 to deploy the military for domestic law enforcement and direct the DOJ to pursue Trump's adversaries.

Trump would violate current constitutional laws to undermine the rule of law and the separation of powers.

But, sure, idiots like Taibbi claim that it's the democrats who are dangerous.

BOO!

Clearly, the only arrows left in the republicans' quiver are fear and violence.

Wake up. You can't be this stupid.

Dope: "2 responses, 2 insults from the peanut gallery."

Your lies, Dope, merit no more than those 2 refreshingly succinct, accurate observations.

The Democrats’ ambitions are significantly more dangerous than those of the Republicans.

There you go, inverting reality again. It's Trump and the MAGAs who did all in their power to overthrow the democratically elected POTUS. And they are still flogging the big LIE.
