The democratic governors of Oregon, Washington and California are forming a new public health partnership aimed at preserving access to vaccines.

The partnership, called the Western Health Alliance, will develop its own immunization guidelines “informed by respected national medical organizations,” according to a press release Wednesday from Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

“The CDC has become a political tool that increasingly peddles ideology instead of science, ideology that will lead to severe health consequences. California, Oregon, and Washington will not allow the people of our states to be put at risk,” the governors said in a joint prepared statement.

Their announcement comes after a week of chaos at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

A good model for states cooperating with one another. I imagine we’ll see more such collaborations, and not just about vaccines.

Good on them and good for their citizens.

And yes, when yuu have countries within a country---- regions, peoples, rules, customs, all begins to be distinctively different. Not just whether you call it soda or pop or a sub or a hoagie......but literally, different people.

Tick tock......

Recall, the CDC head was tossed for not toeing the regime line, not for any dereliction of duty. Much like the management of some of the companies I worked for, where you were required to feed the boss' narrative, no matter how delusional it was.

A good model for states cooperating with one another.

I don't expect that effort to last long. This is the most interventionist regime since FDR. Trump will have the DOJ take the states to court for failing to follow regime diktat, except he'll dress it up as "protecting citizen's freeedom".

DeSantis is a menace. I wonder just how long it takes for disease to become rampant again. Hope we never get there. Polio was showing up in the wastewater in the Philippines. They don't necessarily treat all sewage and it dumps into rivers and the ocean. One young girl got polio from this source, not everyone gets the vaxx. They do have vaxx campaigns, but it isn't solid in the country and the vaxxed aren't enough to fully shield the population if it starts up.

I do expect it to last longer- even grow.

Yes, Trump will take them to court, but Trump's Justice Department is beginning to show itself as increasingly unable to indict a ham sandwich.

Courts are showing a backbone.

USSC? Stay tuned.

This must be a story extracted from the bowels of the right wing sound machine..... the machine that specializes in elevating minor incidents to the level of earthshaking importance.

The subject was vaccinations. Pay attention.

“The CDC has become a political tool that increasingly peddles ideology instead of science, ideology that will lead to severe health consequences.

As a side note, the CDC is one of only a few labs on the planet that have live smallpox virus. Supposedly, these labs are the only place it exists (i.e. it's not "in the wild" anymore). They also house some other nasty bugs. And what to be done with those are up to a three-ring clown show, not good science? Think on that a bit...

Then Trump does what Nixon did to enforce the 55mph speed limit: withhold agency funding for something that would hurt the states.

Yes, Trump will take them to court,

...and fight it out over this:

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

Article I, Section 10, Clause 3 of the US Constitution.

The question will come down to if whether or not this 'compact' of some of the dumber health professionals in the country somehow supersedes federal authority (or not). If it doesn't, they can play with each other. If it does, they can't.

Wakeboarding is done behind boats with stern ballast tanks flooded to produce the largest wake possible. There are areas where wakeboarding is prohibited because it pulverizes shoreside docks. These areas are clearly posted in inland waterways. There are plenty of areas where wakeboarding is permitted.

A scofflaw or ignorant captain deserves to be arrested when operating a power boat in a destructive and careless manner.

There ought to be a repair fund for damage caused by wake violators; boats, wave riders, jet skis.... and wakeboarders. Problem is, judges go reallly easy on wake violators.

I meant paddleboarding, clearly.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-04-0...

A paddle boarder was arrested Thursday after ignoring lifeguards’ orders to get out of the ocean near the Malibu Pier despite beach closures amid the coronavirus pandemic, authorities said.
...
The man, who was not identified by authorities, eventually made his way to the beach, where he was arrested on suspicion of disobeying a lifeguard and violating Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order, a misdemeanor. Photographs from the scene show the man in handcuffs being led down the beach by two deputies.

He was booked at a sheriff’s station in Calabasas and released on a promise to appear in court, sheriff’s officials said. The man faces a fine of $1,000 or six months in jail, or both, if convicted of violating the state order.

And here's some other nonsense from the same kind of genius:
https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/local/deputies-t...

My favorite was this one:
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/health/s...

They wouldn't even allow people to play freaking tennis. I'm proud to say that 5 minutes after the padlock went on the tennis courts in my neighborhood, somebody went out there with bolt cutters and dealt with it. And it wasn't even me! Glad to see there at least a couple of non-sheep in the city of Seattle.

Then there's counting deaths, which was also fraught with all kinds of stupid.

I'll assume you've read this far. If a dude codes out in the ER because he was riding a motorcycle and was hit by a truck, but he had COVID present in his system, what would you put down his death as?

No kidding.

It’s all part of “flooding the zone with shit”….. the acknowledged strategy of one of the architects of today’s right wing architects.

“No! No!” say some. Steve Bannon is yesterday’s news!

Perhaps, but why do they continue his strategy?

Dope

I am confused. In this thread you are complaining about someone being arrested for breaking the law, and in other threads you complain about people not being arrested or deported for breaking the law.

Do you think some laws should be obeyed and some shouldn't???
If yes, could you explain your reasoning.

Dope thinks whatever his right-wing programmers tell him to think and it changes constantly...
One day he believes in the "Free Market" the next day he's for gov't controls.
One day he believes in "Free Speech" the next day he's all for gov't censorship.
One day he believes in "Fiscal Responsibility" (Even austerity) the next day he's all for huge deficit spending.
One day he believes in "States Rights" the next day he's against the idea.
One day he's against pedophilia the next day he's all for it...
This is what happens to one who cannot think critically.
He is just a flip-flopping puppet who repeats whatever he's told.
They say jump. Dope says how high?

"The essence of the independent mind lies not in what it thinks, but in how it thinks." —Christopher Hitchens
