NYPD chief blasts migrants' attack on officers as mugshots of suspects released


Hmmm. The headline uses the word "migrants".... but in the video the police chief uses the word "people"?

So I checked another site, CBS News, OK with you Lapsody?

Reported by CBS so some of you might see have seen it.

NYPD officers attacked in Times Square; 5 suspects arrested, 7 still on the loose

In the CBS Video, the talking head not only does not call them migrants, but shows a graphic giving their names and what states they were from.

More mmmm. Still searching for the truth of the migrant angle, I did what 1pg suggested and accessed a local news station to see what they were reporting. Here is ABC Channel 6 Action News.

This article says the attackers were first reported as migrants (Fox).

Later in the article they list the attacker names and states they came from (CBS).

They were the only one I looked at who reported both dimensions.

See what you guys have done to me. I don't know what is real anymore. What I need is a good fact checker so I don't have sort such things out on my own.

BTW, regardless of the immigrant status of the attackers, an entirely separate injustice occurred. As reported by 6ABC Action News,

NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell blasted the attack of two police officers as "reprehensible" and called their attackers "cowards."

The Police Benevolent Association said it was outraged the suspects were released without bail.

This article says the attackers were first reported as migrants (Fox).

Heh. It's entirely possible for both things to be true. Come over the border, have Biden (or Greg Abbott!) resettle you someplace else and voila! You're Peng Xi Xiaoping from Burlington, VT or Pablo Gonzales of Chicago, IL.

Some just off the wall predictions:

1. Recruitment of new officers for NYPD (as well as other metro areas) will continue their precipitous fall; AND

2. More sooner than later, there will be gunfire in our midst.

It can't continue.

Sad, but inevitable.

More and more, the images we're seeing on the news should trigger our memories of two prescient movies:

From 1973 and 1981 respectively, they were 'way out there' SciFi; things would NEVER GET THAT BAD!, would they???

And yet, here we are.

This is beat type reporting, so it’s usually factual on Fox which spoke “migrant”. CBS did say they were “asylum seekers” in the written article accompanying the video portion. ABC called them migrants. None of them explained why they were released on bail. I generally don't watch news videos. I read. The rest is from Media Bias Fact Check.

After the 2020 election, Fox News TV personalities advanced false and unproven conspiracy theories regarding election fraud Questions linger over the Left’s plot against Donald Trump. Numerous audits and studies reveal that election fraud during the 2020 election was average and had no impact on the election’s outcome. Further, as noted above, they promoted conspiracy theories related to Dominion Voting Machines.
TV personalities also advanced false claims and conspiracies on the following issues: No guns at the capitol riot (False), Trump authorized the National Guard for the Capitol Riot (No Evidence), FBI orchestrated insurrection (False), The USA funds Biolabs in Ukraine (False), Numerous instances of Covid-19 vaccine disinformation (False). Further, according to Politifact, FNC has also been deemed the least accurate cable news source.
Finally, Fox News also features fact-based news reporting by beat reporters and some daytime TV hosts. However, this credible news reporting is buried between TV programming promoting Right Leaning propaganda and false claims. The website is similar, with credible news stories between hyper-partisan questionable content from their nighttime TV hosts.
In general, Fox News’ beat reporters produce low-biased fact-based news; however, the reporting on their entertainment-based news programming frequently promotes propaganda and false claims that render Fox News Questionable.

Thanks Lapsody, this fact stuff sure is hard to grasp for a simpleton deplorable such as myself, so help me understand.....

Yikes, Fox news publishes emotionally loaded headlines like Biden says ‘MAGA Republicans’ threaten democracy. It is no wonder that the experts at MBFC rated Fox News as biased right with headlines like that.

However I have two questions that I hope you can answer that may help me to better understand the fact checking process...

1) Is a Fox News score affected when their emotionally charged headline is substantiated by an approved source?

2) Should Fox News move their emotionally charged content from the headline to the body like CNN?

However I have two questions that I hope you can answer that may help me to better understand the fact checking process...

1) Is a Fox News score affected when their emotionally charged headline is substantiated by an approved source?

What score? The emotionally laden judgment looks like they’re saying Fox uses right wing click bait headlines, not a comment on accuracy. Are you asleep?

2) Should Fox News move their emotionally charged content from the headline to the body like CNN?

Overall, we rate CNN moderately left-biased based on editorial positions by TV hosts that consistently favor the left, while straight news reporting falls left-center through bias by omission. We also rate them as Mostly Factual in reporting rather than high due to two failed fact checks in the last five years. (5/16/2016) Updated (M. Huitsing 11/20/2023)

I will say this much, that Network went through some changeover and I stopped watching them. They went downhill, lost audience share, and they may be out doing emotion laden headlines to keep their head above water. I don’t know, stopped watching. I only read beat stories and watched Cuomo and some Lemon while in the Phils. CNN was fine,– and FOX was dropped. Filipinos aren’t interested in the hard right wing conspiracy and misinfo on FOX. One of my good friends over there was MAGA ex military died as a result of a stroke. He was a recovering alcoholic – PTSD from all of his deployments . We never ever talked politics because he couldn’t be stressed out.
