A Democrat running for the state senate in swing state Pennsylvania won a special election last night. No big deal.
Except it was a district that Trump won by 15%.
Except the last time a Democrat represented the district in the PA senate was in 1889. And no, that’s not a typo.
But other than that, no biggie.
Democrat James Andrew Malone narrowly won a special election for a Pennsylvania state Senate seat in Republican-leaning suburbs and farming communities, scoring an upset in a district that a Democrat hasn’t represented in the chamber for 136 years.https://apnews.com/article/pennsylvania-democratic...

Yours truly as usual is right on. I've said recently, multiple times that Democrats will get Congress in 2026, and that Club 401K will look on it as some big mandate pro this or anti that.
Truth is, because your socioeconomic environment and culture suck so bad, people will not be content regardless who wins - the incumbent will be blamed. Look at Biden - whom YOU PEOPLE kicked out. Economic numbers were awesome, yet people still blamed the man for this or that.
Now to Mayor Malone....
Did he run on HE/THEM THEY/THEM
Did he run on "You are racist if you want to build a wall!"
NOPE
He ran on cost of living, wages, CYBER CHARTER schools reform, social security, health care.
*Someone* here has said: Dems who stop the Coastal 401K'er Progressive Extremism, and focus on the pocketbook----are going to win big thanks to the GOP's rhetoric and tinkering with said programs.
And as usual, you see - I'm right ;) . Hint: How did the Governor of Kentucky INCREASE his percentages in the reddest Trump counties in the state? Think about that - then decide if you want to keep up the They/Them nonsense.

Also. how many times was Malone whining about the oil and gas and fracking industry?
:)
The Gutless Wonder won't learn. Ever. Sheeple will vote D and do what they tell him.
BUT a few of you Democrats here have shown to have thinking skills for yourselves - seriously - dont you see how Malone was TOTALLY different than "Kamala" and Club 401K?
Are you happy with the result, or not?
Want more? Let's talk.
Or, well, look around and enjoy status quo ;)

He ran on cost of living, wages, CYBER CHARTER schools reform, social security, health care.LOL. Fangirls never double-click into any details.
-Charter Schools
Public Schools have failed. Not "are failing", have failed, past tense. Here, let's look at a raging conservative source on this:
https://cepr.harvard.edu/news/scary-truth-about-ho...That’s not the case, unfortunately, with kids’ learning right now, more than four years after the pandemic shuttered classrooms and disrupted the lives of millions of children. The effects were seen almost immediately, as students’ performance in reading and math began to dip far below pre-pandemic norms, worrying educators and families around the country.
Even now, according to a new report released this week by the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE), a research group at Arizona State University that has studied the impact of Covid on education since 2020, the average American student is “less than halfway to a full academic recovery” from the effects of the pandemic.democrats bowed to the teacher's unions, who wanted to conduct class over Zoom with
Days of Our Lives on in the background. Welp. We now have a generation of kids who are miles behind in their learning and screwed up socially.
-Cost of living
Why, that sounds like inflation? The Fangirl and others claimed that "inflation" is transitory and that because wages were rising ssooooooo fasssst it didn't matter. Ooop. Glad we're looking at the root cause of inflation right now, which is the government spending money it doesn't have.
But let's check in on the price of eggs. Our board libs have been oddly silent on this:
https://eggprices.org/national-data$2.92/dozen as of today. Say, that's a lot lower than it was. Huh.
-Social Security
The little d's are currently claiming that Trump is going to slash everything. I'm surprised they haven't whipped out the ad of Paul Ryan pushing grandma down the stairs again.

$2.92/dozen as of today. Say, that's a lot lower than it was. Huh.Not where I live. Just in the store a few days ago, and a dozen was still about $6 (give or take). Hasn't really budged in months. The only difference is that now you can get them. A month ago they were rationing, and many stores were out.
But that was always a red herring, anyway. I didn't put much stock in it last fall, and the only reason it was mentioned in Jan is the Felon said he would bring it down his first week. Which he didn't, and really couldn't, since POTUS doesn't control that. It's controlled by various macroeconomic forces. But he's too stupid to know that, as is a large portion of his followers.

Sir...
It might be a 'red herring'. Many people here - you and me - are from TMF. TMF wasn't a pawn shop. It was a finance site point being, we're all not Bill Gates, but, a vast majority of TMF users ----were sorta kinda ok if the price of eggs went up.
Thing is, for many - it's like gas prices. Remember gas prices? The thing that TMF Liberals used to whine about if they were up during Bush's watch? It's an every day thing that slaps people in the face. DITTO eggs. Dunno ifs you watched West Wing but Toby Ziegler said once "...it's the things. It's the 75 cent hamburger things.....the every day things. And we go crazy when we can't depend on the things" I'm paraphrasing but pretty close.
It DOES resonate with people. Mind you these are the same people who buy tattoos, "gym" membership, "streaming" services and line up for the new smartphone model. Nevertheless, what you call Red Herring is real with voters and then - toss in a political campaign skillfully talking about it and ....sorry.....but egging people on :)
First step if you believe in "Democracy!" - figure out how to take the covers you need.....seriously. Or at least dont' visibly dismiss their concerns.
Malone who. "won!" in a Trumpy area-----look ----he campaigned on this. He didn't call it a red herring.
Club 401K did. And "Kamala" is somewhere at home polishing the chip on her shoulder, and Trump and Putin are having some fun.
Is it worth ----- changing your tune just a smidge? If not, no worries- let's name a Ukrainian monument after Trump and Putin also

Bird flu reduced the supply.
But that didn’t stop MAGA from blaming Biden gor increased egg prices.
Now bird flu is receding, increasing supply. And MAGa is praising Trump for reduced egg prices.
Supply and Demand- influenced by a virus beyond the control of both Trump and Biden.

****
And when they did that, MAGA's opposition smugly rolled their eyes at people. And when inflation started - it was "high class problem". Again, the Liberal attitude and being out of touch allowed Trump to make eggs his running mate.
Perception.
Perception.
Get your head out of your NPR ass. Once in your political life.
1992..... George HW Bush was at 90% after the Guly War and a Democrat, Dan Rostenkowski told Bush "if people dont see you caring about what's happening at home, you will lose the election". LOl after that you saw HW Bush being amazed, on camera, at a supermarket checkout scanner.
The "change" candidate. The "I feel your pain" guy. The man who was able to articulate concerns of voters and make those concerns his own WON! Now get this.....
GDP was growing robustly by the time HW Bush shipped out of the White House. Clinton came in, it was already growing, and the dot-com revolution helped. But he got credit, HW got blamed.
Please, for once, learn the political lessons. If you like "democracy!" pretend that you want to participate.

...were sorta kinda ok if the price of eggs went up.
I'm not denying it was painful. But POTUS doesn't control that, any more than he can control gas prices**. Yes, I get that whoever is in the White House gets the blame, even though most of the macroeconomics are beyond his/her control. On this board, I'm assuming most of the posters are savvy enough to know that. And I was responding to one such poster.
For voters at large, I'm not really sure how to handle it. I would say that we need to educate them, but that will mostly be fruitless. It seems, no matter which party is in the WH, they will get the blame for gas prices, or egg prices, or any of a number of things they can't control. Biden was partially to blame for inflation in the first two years (with his BBB plan that arguably took things a little too far, causing inflation), but also was mostly responsible for it going away in the last two years (in part because of skyrocketing jobs numbers...lots of moving parts to an economy).
Clinton said something like "I feel your pain". Maybe that's enough? He didn't have control of egg prices or gas prices, either. But he did benefit from the sudden expansion of the online economy, and produced the last surplus we've ever had.
I do agree that you shouldn't just dismiss concerns if you're running for office. I suppose you could even lie about it, and say "I'll fix it on day-one". Worked for the Felon. I'm not good with lying, though. One of many reasons I will never seek elected office.

The liberals on this board were mocking you about egg prices because of the right-wing PR department (aka Faux News) non-stop blaming Biden about causing egg prices to go up.
We understand that Biden had no more control over egg prices increasing than Trump has about egg prices decreasing.
By the way, Wegmans (no small grocery chain) is currently selling large eggs for $4.99 with a limit on how many you can buy.

This statement implies some knowledge of current events and/or economics. Board libs possess neither.

So shop someplace else. Meanwhile, you people lost your collective poop when it was $6.55 a dozen 2 days after Trump took office. Why aren't you happy?
