The death of Aleksei A. Navalny, reported by the authorities in Russia on Friday, would leave the country without its most prominent opposition voice at a time when President Vladimir V. Putin has amassed near-total power, invaded neighboring Ukraine and drawn the sharpest divisions with U.S.-led Western allies since the end of the Cold War. NYT

This is the template for Trump and the erstwhile Republican Party: autocracy of the worst kind.

Trump has made it plain how much he admires Putin. Wouldn't it be interesting to know what passed between them at their little tete-a-tete in Helsinki.
