On Sunday [following Joe Biden’s announcement], Brent Leatherwood, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, gave a statement about Joe Biden’s decision to step aside from the 2024 campaign. Here’s what Leatherwood said:
"Not only is this a historic decision, it is the right decision for our nation. The role of president takes a heavy toll and, based on what has been apparent for some time, it was unrealistic to ask President Biden to endure another four years of the incredible burdens placed on the one who occupies this office."
Twenty-four hours later, Leatherwood was fired.
Twenty-four hours after that the head of The Executive Committee said he believed he had the consensus of the committee, but did not take a formal vote. He decided that perhaps he had gotten out over his skis and retracted the statement announcing the firing. And *he* resigned. At this point people are not sure whether Leatherwood still has a job or not.

Leatherwood had been criticized for other recent positions on topics of key interest to Southern Baptists, such as not supporting legislation that would have jailed women who chose abortions.
Clearly ol' Leatherwood's a wolf in sheep's clothing. I'll bet his bible doesn't have an American Flag embossed on the cover or Lee Hazelwoods song as the official hymn.
Leatherwood probably also doesn't support the deportation of children of zombies from Mexican insane asylums and prisons who are born in America's hatch tomatillo fields.
