Yeah, so, sure, the Mom had no reason to try to deflect responsibility unto a son "leaning more to the left" and dating "a biological male who was transitioning genders."

The jury is still out, but it's more believable when the mother says it, to me. Most moms love their sons, and if she knew he was dating, he was close enough to be honest with her it seems. Doesn't have to be and everyone has a right to be skeptical.
