4) They do not have an effective monopoly on modern AI.
A while ago I started seeing the AI response as the first thing when I did a google search. At first I ignored it, but then realized that is did a good synopsis of the first few hits, so started paying attention to it.
Later on I started putting more complex things to search for.
One day while looking over some MI board posts I thought "Why not?" and searched on "explain price / (52 week high + 52 week low)"
HOLY HELL!!! It gave me a thorough explanation that was longer than my screen was tall. Then it offered to explain more if I would tell it what I was trying to do.
And then numerous non-AI hits on 52 week high and low.
Yesterday I was having a tough time trying to do something in bash (Unix scripting language). So I went to google and entered "bash how to {do the thing I was trying to do}. AND IT GAVE ME THE BASH CODE AND EXPLAINED IT.
For all intents and purposes, the AI you get for free with google handles a big part of what most people need for casual lookup.
Oh yeah, one more thing. The bash code it gave did do what I wanted to do. But it also gave me a *better* way to accomplish what I was trying to do.
Note to self: Buy more GOOGL.

"thorough" We were on a cruise once and the Swedish Captain got on the PA system and read an announcement from the head office. He had an impossible time trying to pronounce "thorough". Totally butchered it, but we figured out what the word was.
