On the same day that House Republicans took the long walk from the House chamber to the Senate chamber to deliver articles of impeachment for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson was forced to make a public statement stating he would NOT succumb to internal Tea Party pressure to resign in the face of threats by Marjorie Taylor Green to trigger a vote to vacate the Speaker's chair.

All of the ingredients are there together on the table.

Attempting to govern through coercian rather than consensus.

Attempting to deal with people who can only articulate what they will NOT allow but cannot articulate any position reflecting less than 100% of their extremist pipe dream policy goals.

The same handful of people out roughly 215 in the majority caucus.

Indeed, the same PERSON involved in both charades - Marjorie Taylor Green.

And the man supposedly leading the circus cannot recognize the damage his strategy of using obstructionism with the Administrative branch is doing even when the exact same strategy is being used against HIM by his OWN PARTY.

And amid that situation, not even five other Republicans can be found to defect to the other side, take the gavel away from this lunatic fringe of high-volume, low-IQ political nihilists and let reason prevail, at least long enough to vote on vital aid for Ukraine and enter a safe political time-out until the voters have a chance to speak in November regarding what the next Congress should look like.
