But that dynamic only works in a liberal democracy.
A lot of things only work in a liberal democracy.
Some people get confused, when I say cities/counties/states that style themselves as "sanctuaries" should be whipped into line, by the Federal government, because they are ignoring/obstructing Federal immigration law. In a liberal democracy, if you don't like a law, work through the system to change it. How did women gain the vote? How did 18 year olds gain the vote? They didn't charge into a polling place and demand the worker give them a ballot, at gunpoint. Advocates worked through the system to change the law. US immigration law may have been reformed by now, if so many local governments, and "JCs" could not ignore the law, without consequences. But, they did ignore the law, without consequences, so now we have a major part of the voting population out for "retribution", at the expense of liberal democracy.

Great discussion, the dynamic is such that the old reliable sources are compromised. Substacks are fruitful, but journalism schools are going to have problems I would think. All the shining liberal stars are going to go dim.

Many have or are moving to Substack- in particular “The Bulwark” and “Meidas”
